Contractor Opportunities

Subcontractor Bid Process

At Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati, we are committed to building safe, affordable housing and supporting our community. To partner with skilled subcontractors, we have a structured bid process that occurs twice a year in December and May

Key Details of Our Bid Process:

  • Bid Timing: We accept bids only twice a year during our designated bid periods in December and May. We do not take bids on a rolling calendar, so interested subcontractors should prepare for these windows.

  • Initial Bid Meeting: We kick off each bid cycle with an initial meeting via Microsoft Teams. This meeting is an opportunity for anyone interested to learn more about working with Habitat for Humanity. It’s open to:

  • Contractors who want to become subcontractors with us

  • Those interested in understanding how we operate as a construction company and nonprofit

  • Individuals or companies looking to donate goods, materials, labor, and more

  • Construction Trades We Bid For: We seek subcontractor bids for various trades, including:

  • Plumbing, Electric, Roofing, Excavation, Foundations, HVAC, Framing, Carpet Installation, Vacant Lot Cleanup and Maintenance, Lawncare, Lead Remediation and Clearance, Concrete Flatwork, Siding (Hardieboard and Vinyl), and Masonry.

  • Additional Trades for Home Repairs: For our critical repair projects, we also need skilled subcontractors in:

  • Plumbing repairs, Tub-to-Shower Conversions, Home Renovation, Carpenters/Handymen, and more.

  • Promoting the Bid Meeting: We advertise the initial bid meeting through our website, social media platforms, and word of mouth. Stay tuned to our communication channels for details on how to participate.

  • Work Site Walkthrough: Approximately two weeks after the initial meeting, we host a work site walkthrough. This walkthrough gives subcontractors a firsthand look at a typical Habitat home, so they can better understand the scope of work and our expectations.

  • Bid Submission Period: We accept bids for two weeks following the site walkthrough. Bid meetings are the primary way in which we seek to recruit new contractors.

If you’re a subcontractor looking to collaborate with a mission-driven organization and contribute to community-building projects, we encourage you to participate in our next bid process. Together, we can make a significant impact!
