The need for affordable homeownership

Across Greater Cincinnati and the country, owning a home is harder than ever. Many ready-to-buy families still rent, facing high costs, few options, and years of saving, even when doing everything right.

As a result, more families are putting their plans for homeownership on hold. The longer families wait, the further that goal moves out of reach.

Here in Greater Cincinnati, the need is clear. For every home we build, 10 families who meet the requirements and are ready for this opportunity are still waiting.

Owning a home provides something many families have gone without for too long - the stability to plan, build savings, and create a future. It means no longer worrying about rising rent or unexpected moves. It means children can grow up in a place that is truly theirs.

That kind of stability is only possible because of friends like you.

Did you know?

1 in 7 renters can’t afford the mortgage for a typical home today.

The typical first-time homebuyer is now around
40.

Over 75% of Cincinnati homes are more than 40 years old, creating major repairs and limiting move-in-ready options.

Meet Rejun

Rejun is a devoted mother to her two beautiful children, Zay’vin (12) and Tre’jour (8). She works as a medical health technician and continues pursuing her education to become a registered nurse.

Rejun loves spending time doing activities with her children and now feels peace of mind knowing they have a safe place to play in their neighborhood.

In their new home, her children can enjoy the yard and local parks in a stable, welcoming community.

Your generosity is needed now. Please donate today to give more families like Rejun's the opportunity to have a safe place to call home.

Meet Aaron

Greg “Aaron” works in healthcare and is a single father to one daughter, Lyric.

Like many in Cincinnati, Aaron experienced challenges with adequate housing. “I have lived in a one-bedroom home for the past 10 years with a landlord who really doesn't fix things up around the home.” He wanted his daughter to have the space she needed to grow and play. â€‹

“It was probably one of the happiest moments of my life to know that with Habitat I am able to provide my daughter a safe, happy home to grow up in and call her own.”

When you give today, you help more families like Aaron’s move from renting to owning, from uncertainty to stability, and from paying a landlord to building something of their own.
