1986
Several Habitat for Humanity affiliates begin in the region entirely run by volunteers.

In 1976, Habitat for Humanity was founded by Milliard Fuller in Georgia. 10 years later in 1986, the first Habitat affiliates were established in the region by Joe Henry with Northern Kentucky Habitat and later Jack Swisher with Cincinnati Habitat. In the early days, affiliates were run primarily out of church basements. Hardworking volunteers committed lots of time and effort to progress Habitat’s mission.
