  • Donor Advised Funds | Habitat Cincinnati

Donor Advised Funds What is a Donor Advised Fund A donor advised fund, or DAF, is a charitable giving account. When you make a charitable contribution to the fund, you receive an immediate tax deduction. Then you can recommend grants to nonprofits over time. DAFs are often established through community foundations, financial institutions, or employer-sponsored programs. Why a Donor Advised Fund Might Be Right for You You want to simplify giving across multiple charities. You have a high-income year and want to lock in a tax deduction now. You want flexibility to support causes over time. You want to give appreciated assets without triggering capital gains. You want to involve family members in charitable decisions. DAFs can also be used to complement or replace a private foundation. As with all gift planning, you should consult your financial adviser and lawyer to help you get started with recommending a grant to Habitat for Humanity. Your donor-advised fund gift to Habitat will help families across Greater Cincinnati build a better life. Information Your Financial Institution Will Need Legal name. • Volunteer Pope Leo Village | Habitat Cincinnati

Join the Pope Leo Village Volunteer Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity’s mission brings people together to not only build homes, but to build communities, and hope. The homes sponsored by the Pope Leo Village campaign, like most of our homes, will be built with the help of volunteers. By working alongside homebuyers, staff, and other volunteers, participants build authentic connections and break down barriers that often divide our society. The Pope Leo Village is YOU —youth groups, faith communities, friends, neighbors joining together. A special invitation to young people. In a recent message to young people gathered in Chicago, Pope Leo encouraged the group to pay attention to the true longing within themselves towards a life serving others. Pope Leo says, “in that service to others we may find that coming together in friendship, building up community, we too can find true meaning in our lives.” The words of Pope Leo align with the mission and spirit of Habitat for Humanity. The Pope Leo Village initiative offers an opportunity to inspire both Catholics and non-Catholics to participate in a meaningful experience serving others and participating in the meaningful act of building communities. We invite individuals who are at least 16 years old to join us on site! There are lots of ways to get involved: Gather a group to volunteer together. Connect Habitat with your youth group, school service coordinator, or other youth-service focused group. Ask friends and family to sponsor your volunteer day. partnerships faith in action Founded on a mission to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity offers faith groups a powerful way to put their faith into action by building homes, communities, and hope. For over three decades, churches and faith groups of any denomination have given generously, offered prayers and volunteers. Financial Donations Other Ways to Give Corporate Partnership Volunteer rooted in faith Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati began with a calling to put faith into action. Inspired by the national Habitat for Humanity movement, a group of local Christians founded the grassroots organization in Cincinnati in 1986. The early Cincinnati Habitat was entirely volunteer run as an outreach program of several churches. As Habitat gained momentum across the country, more churches felt called to join the mission. In Greater Cincinnati, church congregations joined together to form coalitions. These coalitions sponsor and build homes from the ground up. They get to know partner families and celebrate the homes with dedication celebrations. While we are rooted in the Christian tradition, we welcome groups of any faith and spiritual tradition. For over three decades, faith communities and faith-based organizations have made an incredible impact in our region, funding and building hundreds of homes. Habitat Beginnings volunteer pray faith coalitions together we can do more It can be challenging for one congregation to sponsor and complete a Habitat home on their own. However, when several congregations come together, they can make a significant impact on the lack of affordable housing by building homes in partnership with hardworking families. It’s through the process of working side-by-side that we realize we are far more alike than we are different and true community is formed. • Women Build | Habitat Cincinnati

women helping women build a strong foundation Women Build Habitat homeownership creates strength, stability, and independence through shelter for families in our community. Our annual Women Build brings together friends and colleagues from across our community to raise funds, walls, and awareness - creating an affordable homeownership opportunity for a family in Greater Cincinnati. Happening May 2026 Women empowering women through homeownership. We know that, together, women have the power to transform lives. Over the span of a month, groups of women will join together to raise funds, walls, and awareness to help a single mother achieve her dream of homeownership. We need your help. Get involved. Contact Ashton Wilson ashton.wilson@habitatcincinnati.org , 513-482-5612 for more information. Get Involved Why Women? Women in our community are disproportionately impacted by the rising cost of housing. Women and children are more likely to be affected by poor living conditions than men. Women also face more barriers to stable housing than men in similar economic situations. Men earn more on average than women, resulting in access to higher credit, better loans and better quality homes and neighborhoods. Unequal caregiving responsibilities limit a woman’s ability to dedicate the necessary time to obtaining and maintaining consistent employment and decent housing. Single women are denied mortgages at higher rates than single men, despite the fact women are more reliable at paying back mortgages. How Women Build Helps Through Women Build you can make access to affordable homeownership possible for local families in need. Last year, the majority of the families served through Habitat Greater Cincinnati's homeownership program were single mothers who had been living in unaffordable or overcrowded housing. Together with your support, we can help women in our community build strength, stability and self-reliance by becoming first-time homebuyers. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. That mortgage won’t exceed 30% of a family's income, widely recognized as the threshold for affordable housing, making it easier to afford nutritious food, pay for necessary medical care, and save for the future. Together we will empower women, empower families, and empower communities. Learn More Meet the homebuyer family. Meet LaShawntay (Tay) -- a hardworking woman investing in her future through homeownership. She is so excited to finally have her own private space that she hopes to eventually fill with children. Tay watched her mother work incredibly hard to buy a home for their family and is happy to continue the legacy of homeownership in her family. Why Habitat? Habitat builds and renovates decent, affordable houses for people who make between 30%-80% of the area's median income. All partner homebuyers must demonstrate a reliable source of income as well as invest at least 200 hours of sweat equity in their home and in education classes. Houses are sold at no profit with a 0% interest, 30-year loan. The homeowner's mortgage payments are reinvested to build more Habitat homes.        Affordable housing solutions help local families in need provide a stable, sustainable environment to build a better future:   Children of homeowners are 25% more likely to graduate from high school, 116% more likely to graduate from college, and will earn 24% higher incomes.   Homeowners are 28% more likely to vote in local elections and engage in civic, school, and community groups . Homeowners are 34% more likely to have a retirement account. Affordable housing (less than 30% of income) frees up family resources for other important expenses like nutritious food, job training, and healthcare expenditures . No expereince necessary.
