  • Global Impact | Habitat Cincinnati

a world where everyone has a decent place to live About Us Why Habitat Goals & Financials Leadership Where We Build Careers AmeriCorps Program Events News What is tithe? The tithe is one of the hallmarks of Habitat, based on our biblical roots as an ecumenical Christian ministry. Through the tithe, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati joins other U.S. Habitat organizations in sharing 10% of our unrestricted contributions with our Habitat colleagues around the world. This practice has created a cycle of generosity and partnership for more than 40 years. Since 1987, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati has contributed $5 Million in tithe to partners across the globe serving 1,408 international families. We've contributed $5 Million to tithe partners! our global tithe partners “It is not enough to limit your love to your own nation, to your own group. You must respond with love even to those outside of it … This concept enables people to live together not as nations, but as the human race.” Clarence Jordan, spiritual father of Habitat for Humanity Lasting Relationships At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, we designate our tithe to four different national partners: Habitat Cambodia, Habitat El Salvador, Habitat Kenya, and Habitat Nepal. We trust the local leaders in these countries to direct the funds to address their specific needs. We first began a tithe partnership with Kenya in 1995, El Salvador in 2001, Cambodia in 2012, and Nepal in 2019. We build and maintain our relationships with our Tithe Partners through regular volunteer trips through the Global Village Program. Learn More A Culture of Sharing The practice of tithing among affiliates has its roots in the early days of Habitat. In 1979, Millard Fuller, the co-founder of Habitat with his wife, Linda, visited the Democratic Republic of Congo to dedicate many houses in the village of Ntondo. During the dedication ceremony, the leader of the local Habitat organization took up a collection and asked that half of the money be used to start another Habitat program. That tithe started a Habitat organization in Guatemala. And from this one small gift, Habitat’s entire tithe program grew. Today, Habitat affiliates across the U.S. participate in the tithe, and their collective tithe is over $350 million.

These are our first builds in Northern Kentucky in about 6 years. Located just north of Devou Park, these homes will be located less than 2 miles from the Covington Business District offering new homeowners many nearby opportunities for employment, entertainment, and recreation. All the homes have at least 3 bedrooms and will be both one- and two-story homes. Two of the homes will be adjoined to form a duplex. Like all the homes we build, these models were selected to compliment the style and characteristics of other homes in the neighborhood. Program Details Like all Habitat homes, the Botany Hills Covington homes are income-restricted to those making 30-80% of the area median income. Habitat homebuyers will work alongside staff and volunteers to build their homes and will purchase the home with a 0% interest affordable mortgage that is at or below 30% of their income. • Advocacy | Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati

every voice Advocacy At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, our vision is of a region where everyone has a decent place to live. While we build and repair homes in pursuit of that vision, we also advocate for policies and systems that eliminate barriers to safe and affordable homes. Everyone deserves to build the foundation for a stable, healthy future for themselves and their families — no matter who they are, where they live or how much money they earn. As an organization, we have long advocated for our homeowners and for increased housing affordability in our city. Now, we are asking you to join us by joining the #CostOfHome movement Homeownership Rock the Block Critical Repair Program Construction Training Advocacy Advocacy News Habitat on the Hill 2025 In February, we had the privilege of attending Habitat on the Hill in Washington, D.C., where Habitat for Humanity advocates from across the 1 2 Families across the U.S. are paying too high a price to cover the cost of home. Rent and homeownership costs are skyrocketing, but wages are not keeping pace. Too many families struggle to make ends meet. In cities, suburbs, and rural areas, the stability that home should bring remains out of reach for many families. At Habitat for Humanity, we know that a family should never have to spend more than 30% of their income on a home. But today, nearly 19 million U.S. households pay 1/2 or more of their income on a place to live. That is unacceptable. That means that 1 in 6 families are denied the personal and economic stability that safe, decent and affordable housing provides. Instead, 1 in 6 families are forced to make impossible choices. Safe homes. Nutritious food on the table. Health care. Access to good schools. Reliable transportation. Now, as the economic impacts of COVID-19 continue to unfold, the number of families struggling to make ends meet is only growing. Housing policy is influenced by decades of systemic racism. Habitat's Cost of Home campaign calls for policymakers to acknowledge and address the well-documented historic patterns of racial discrimination in housing and land use policies — at all levels of government — that still impact the makeup and opportunities of our communities. We declare our commitment: Habitat for Humanity will work to ensure that no family has to pay more than half of their paycheck to cover the cost of home. Over the next 5 years, we will join Habitat organizations, our partners, our volunteers, and community members across the country to find the solutions and help create the policies that will allow 10 million individuals to meet their most basic needs. The time is now Use your voice to encourage others to vote and tell candidates that no family should have to spend more than half their income on housing. Here's your "action kit": Vote!
