After years of military service and providing for his three children, Terrence Gragson found himself searching for a career change.

A Cincinnati native and two-time Iraq War veteran, Terrence served in the United States Army from 2006 to 2017. When the economy slowed and job opportunities became harder to find, he began looking for a new career that felt stable. That search led him to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati’s Construction Training Program.

Over the six-week program, Terrence gained hands-on experience, industry certifications, and practical skills that prepared him for his future, while also finding renewed confidence and a sense of purpose during this life transition.

“The program impacted my life by giving me a reason to believe again,” Terrence shared.

Throughout the program, Terrence worked alongside instructors and volunteers who emphasized not only carpentry and construction basics but also the importance of precision, safety, teamwork, and accountability.

“I want to thank Holly and Felicia,” he said. “They were truly instrumental in making sure that I had what I needed to be here and instilling in me the can-do attitude.”

After graduating from the program, Terrence began working as a carpenter with Model Group. In his new role, he has had the opportunity to contribute to projects that impact the community, including spaces that provide support and resources for veterans experiencing homelessness and transition.
