Building More Than Homes: Why the Real Estate Community Build Matters

Now in its third year, the Real Estate Community Build unites professionals from every aspect of the real estate industry to raise funds, raise walls, and raise awareness for affordable housing. From realtors, lenders, and appraisers to builders, title companies, and anyone real estate–adjacent, the Real Estate Community Build invites industry professionals to set aside competition to come together in support of a local family’s journey to homeownership.
Few leaders champion that mission more than Debbie Brooks, President of Prominent Title Agency. For more than 15 years, Prominent Title has partnered with Habitat, closing on every Habitat home in Greater Cincinnati. Debbie also serves as Vice President of Habitat’s board, dedicating herself not only as a community partner but as one of Habitat’s biggest advocates.
“If I don’t care about affordable housing as someone who owns a title agency, I don’t know who is going to,” she says.
Debbie chose to get involved in the Real Estate Community Build because she knew with her real estate experience and connections, she could really make a difference. Being part of the build allows her the opportunity to have an even deeper impact and to work side by side with a future homeowner.
“They are there working alongside you,” Debbie shares. “I love learning where they're from, I love learning their story, I love meeting their kids.”
In a competitive industry, the Real Estate Community Build is a powerful reminder that when professionals unite around affordable housing, the impact extends far beyond one home. It strengthens neighborhoods, revitalizes communities, and sends the message that the real estate community cares.
"Within the real estate community, the misconception might be that they're not making a big enough difference. That if they just volunteer for one Saturday, or if they just give a small gift, that maybe it's not making a big enough of a difference. But that's just not true," remarks Debbie. "Just come to one of our builds and you will see the impact we're having.”
